Common Questions

Frequently Asked
Questions

  • What level of swimming ability do I need?

You should be comfortable swimming 1km in open water at your own pace. Beyond that, our swimming holidays welcome all levels — from those taking their first open water swims to experienced channel swimmers. All swims are guided, all levels are supported, and every swim is optional.

  • What does a typical day on a Swim Traveller holiday look like?

Most days begin with an early morning swim from the yacht before breakfast, while the water is at its calmest. After breakfast the yacht sails to a new anchorage — time for reading, resting, or a coaching session on deck. A guided main swim takes place mid-morning, followed by a three-course lunch at anchor. Afternoons vary: sometimes a second swim, sometimes an excursion ashore. Evenings are spent in harbour, exploring the town, dining locally.

  • How many guests are on each trip?

A maximum of 28 guests join each trip. This is a deliberate limit — not a commercial decision but a design one. With fewer than 30 people in the water, every swimmer is seen, every coach knows every guest, and the experience retains the intimacy of something private rather than the feeling of a tour group.

  • What is included in the price?

All accommodation aboard the yacht, all meals (buffet breakfast, three-course lunch, dinner in harbour), all guided swims, coaching and safety support, port fees and fuel, snorkelling equipment, kayaks and SUP boards. International flights and travel insurance are arranged separately.

  • Can I pay in instalments?

Yes. A deposit secures your place, with the balance payable in monthly instalments leading up to the departure date. Contact us to discuss the arrangement that works for you.

  • Which Mediterranean destinations offer the best open water swimming?

Croatia's Dalmatian coast consistently offers some of Europe's most accessible and beautiful open water swimming — calm, warm, extraordinarily clear, with an island chain that provides sheltered passages in all conditions. Greece's Aegean islands offer more dramatic topography and thermal variation. Sardinia and Mallorca offer wilder, less-visited coastlines with exceptional water quality. We have designed routes across all four, and more destinations are in development.
